ROZZY KEANE – MOST DEFINITELY ONE TO WATCH!

BY KIRSTEN ROBINSON

Roz Keane’s beautiful jewellery is inspired by her passion for silver, and her magpie tendency for collecting semi-precious stones. Formally a graphic designer for an advertising agency, a course in silverwork spurred her into designing jewellery. "My job was creative", she says, "but I felt a need to return to basics. I wanted to work with my hands, and these pre-historic stones fascinated me". She sources materials from all over the world, and stones range from whimsical pale blue kyanite from Kenya and delicate pearls from china through to striking dark red coral, black jet and pre-historic moss agate from India. Silver comes from Thailand and Israel.

Her style is feminine, flirty and fun, and much of her collection is influenced by her hometown of Brighton. For instance, one of her irresistible charm bracelets is made from stones in lovely, natural blue hues, including turquoise, amozite and fresh water pearls, but also features a seaside theme of fish, sunglasses and a pair of flip-flops, all in solid silver. But she also welcomes commissions, and with an enticing range of charms that include packs of cards, rocking chairs and four-leafed clover - and stones in a myriad of colours - what could make a more personal and special gift than a bespoke piece of Roz’s jewellery? A self confessed shopoholic, she adds, “I found it difficult to find good quality jewellery that was affordable and I could wear every day, so I set about designing my own.” The result is a beguiling collection of chunky silver bracelets, vibrant cluster necklaces and her signature charm bracelets, at very reasonable prices.
